Park Jefferson recap: Hot laps looked promising as Chad could put the car anywhere and clicked off some really nice lap times. Hats off to the track prep crew as the racing surface was beautiful all night long. Hot laps would be our strong suit this night as our engine, which has turned laps in half of the States in the Union (or close to it) NE,FL,IA,OH,IN,MO,and SD finally started to show signs that she wanted some R & R. Of course last week at Eagle our engine ran flawless and our car let us down in the feature, where as this week it was the opposite. Our Wolfweld chassis was handling flawlessly but this time the old girl under the hood was starting to crap out. Although it is probably nothing that a thorough freshen up won't cure, we all had high hopes and Studley made another great draw for the heat race.
As "Bo" would say, "I am really happy about the confidence of our team right now." Chad has been really comfortable in the car, and we have enough parts and engines to get us to the last race at Wichita which we are looking forward to. Chad loves to run wide open and Marvin and I are committed as ever to get the Banana Wagon trimmed out in qualifying mode everytime we are on the track. I feel like we have learned a great deal in just four races, and the nice mix of tracks (Doniphan, Eagle, and Park Jefferson) have taught us lessons and given us experience that has made us better each time we have raced. Even though the results may not show it, the progress is there and we have had some fun and heartaches over the last few weeks.
We will have one more chance to get it together this weekend at Wichita. As the NCRA puts the finishing race on their season, we plan on doing the same. After that it will be time start preparing for Florida and 2009.
